A look at the legendary Pininfarina design studio

Pininfarina

The name Pininfarina may not be a household name outside of the most ardent car enthusiasts, and yet the Pininfarina design studio has created designs for the world’s most prestigious car brands including: Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, BMW, Rolls-Royce, and many more.

The automotive designer Battista Farina founded the Pininfarina Company in 1930 in Italy. The ‘Pinin’ comes from a nickname, as he was one of the youngest of his 10 siblings.

The company has a unique position in being able to work with established brands, as well as add in their own unique style into the creations to create something new that appeals to the loyal fans of each distinctive brand.

The company enjoys a proud family history with the current chairman being the fourth of the Pininfarina dynasty. Paolo Pininfarina speaks about the history and the way that the company has evolved since its inception in the 1930s.

Pininfarina has expanded out beyond the automobile market to brand out into industrial projects across architecture, interiors, luxury products, and furniture.

“Pininfarina Home Design was born by our passion for the new. It represents a journey in exploring new scenarios, a journey in which we have combined, for the first time our heritage in furniture design with our innovative style in architecture and interiors.” – Paolo Pininfarina
