Billionaire investor Bill Ackman on how to learn from your mistakes


Bill Ackman is one of the most successful activist investors around and is the CEO of the hedge fund management company Pershing Square Capital.

Bill was born in New York in 1966, his father Lawrence Ackman was a successful businessman who owned his own real restate financing firm. Bill graduated with a degree in history from Harvard College in 1988, he went on to achieve an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1992.

Bill launched Pershing Square Capital Management in 2004 with $54 million in funding. Pershing has taken stakes in large corporations and works vehemently to increase the value of the companies that he invests in even if it means getting rid of the current management team and replacing them.

Bill has never shied away from confrontation and has always been able to follow his instincts and make sound judgements, at the same time he has made a number of errors and in his discussion with Peter Tufano, the dean of the Said Business School at the University of Oxford.
