Jack Ma is the founder of the Alibaba Group, which at present is the world’s largest retailer. The company is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang in eastern China and deals in products, e-commerce, hosting, online money transfers and mobile e-commerce.
Alibaba provides a platform for entrepreneurs to buy and sell goods and their mission is to make it easy to do business anywhere. Jack is currently the richest person in Asia and is also one of the richest people in the world with an estimated net worth in excess of $40 billion, which is increasing rapidly every single day.
Jack rose from obscurity to achieve success and he was not an exceptional student although he still had a desire to achieve something significant.
He had a huge vision for his company, which the Stanford professor Jim Collins calls a big hairy audacious goal (BHAG) Jack envisaged that his company would exist for 102 years and would exist spanning over three centuries. This would be the personification that would mirrors Collins’ book ‘Built to Last.’
“Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.” – Jack Ma
Jack speaks about how he overcame his limitations to achieve what he has and where he sees opportunities for the future both inside and outside of China.
