Billionaire Stelios Haji-Ioannou on Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou is the founder of the easyGroup and his most successful venture within the group is his easyjet operation that provides low-cost flights to destinations around Europe. He was born in Athens in 1967 and followed his father into the family shipping company to learn about business as a young man.

Stelios attended the London School of Economics (LSE) and acquired a BSc in 1987; he also attained an MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from the Cass Business School.

Stelios launched the airline easyjet in 1995. The low-cost business model proved a success and the company floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2000. At present Stelios owns around 30% of the listed company.

The easy brand is instantly recognizable with its bright orange colour scheme and affordable pricing throughout the entire range of products and services. The easyGroup company is involved with ventures in cars, offices, hotels, buses, gyms, mobile, and many other ventures.
